Mini Giri, "Third Eye", Indigo, incense, burnt paper on panel

Waterstone Gallery's May exhibit, Indigo Memories, showcases works on paper by Mini Giri. In this new series, Giri adds natural indigo pigment to her magical mix of torn, painted and burned paper, creating pieces layered with personal, cultural and historical relevance. Through her practice, indigo becomes a conduit for exploring themes of identity, memory, and belonging, weaving together narratives of communities from India and the USA.

In discussing her new series, Giri writes "Through this work, the enduring legacy of indigo is celebrated, not just as a testament to human creativity and resilience but as a reminder of our shared histories and interconnectedness in the global tapestry."
