Bits and Places
Sep 1, 2010 – Oct 3, 2010
The exhibition will feature Susan Johnson’s new collages and Oilbar drawings/paintings. The collages employ bits and pieces of Oilbar paintings and most have an abstracted reference to landscape. The paintings are more realistic images of particular places including Eastern Turkey and the Oregon mountains and beaches. The content in both types of images refer to day or night or the transition between.
Johnson has been working with Oilbar, an oil paint crayon made from linseed oil, pigment and wax, for the past 16 years and for many years was an art instructor, including at Oregon State University and Linn-Benton Community College. She regularly shows at Waterstone Gallery in the Pearl District of Portland, in Lincoln City at the Freed Gallery and at various venues in the Corvallis area, her hometown.
