In Search of a New Metaphor
May 5, 2010 – May 30, 2010
For the month of May, Waterstone Gallery is pleased to present In Search of a New Metaphor, a new body of work by emerging artist Shelley Chamberlin. In Search of a New Metaphor is an exploration of the embodied metaphor and of the multiplicity of meaning in object, moment, or experience. Explorations of feminist theory and the history of craft and labor inform the materiality of this work, employing a variety of media including printmaking, painting, and hand-stitching. Chamberlin uses the textural materiality of craft media as a thread between themes of relationship, communication, language, connection and interconnection, and the struggle to make meaning.
